"I'M AT THE PLACE SUNDAY MORNING ALONE WITH GEORGIA'S PAINTINGS" STIEGLITZ, ALFRED. Autograph Letter Signed, "Stieglitz," to Henwar Rodakiewicz ("Dear Henwar"), praising the paintings of Georgia O'Keeffe, noting that the admiration of her shown by the many visitors does not help O'Keeffe's illness, explaining that she is bedridden, praising the print he sent O'Keeffe for Christmas, stating that he anticipates being able to keep "the Place" for another year [An American Place, his New York gallery], and pointing out that Dorothy Norman's book is being printed. 2 1/4 pages, 4to, written on two separate sheets with third page on verso of first; toning and minor chipping at edges, horizontal folds. Np, 22 January 1933

Additional Details

"I'm at The Place Sunday morning alone with Georgia's paintings. They look more & more beautiful. She is very ill, will have to be bed ridden for many months. Just diabolical. And the irony of it all is she is very good. Hundreds of people come here daily & sing her praises. They don't help her any. I saw her daily until Thursday. Now I may see her only 10 minutes a week. She has been ordered to have complete rest. It's a rough situation. . . . Struggle & uncertainty still continue I suppose. They do here. It looks as if we'd be able to hold on to the Place another year. That's something. Dorothy Norman's book is on the press. . . ."
