Additional Details

A very early work by Alfred Stieglitz (1864-1946), who was one of a handful of photographers who recognized the lantern slide's artistic potential and used it to advantage. The image was apparently produced during the period he worked in Europe, from 1887-1890, and demonstrates his accomplished use of the lantern slide's ability to capture subtle nuances of light. <
