Color woodcut on thin imitation Japan paper, circa 1970. 194x464 mm; 7 5/8x18 1/4 inches, full margins. Artist's proof. Signed, titled and inscribed "artist's proof" and "To Bernard Kinsey with sincere regards," in pencil, lower margin. A very good, richly inked impression.

A New Orleans native, printmaker Sue Smock's art reflects her rich family heritage and a long interest in non-Western imagery in printmaking. Smock has had a distinguished career as a printmaker and art professor, in addition to having her work exhibited intenationally. Her prints are in the collection of the California African-American Museum, the Amistad Research Center, the New Orleans. Museum of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. This is Smock's first work to appear at auction.
