Together, cover and complete group of 26 illustrations from the book of the same name (London: Houghton & Gunn/Hatchards, 1876). Gouache and ink over graphite. Image sizes vary. Cover is 205x160 mm; 8x6 1/4-inch sheet, mounted to 9 1/2x7 1/4-inch cloth-backed cardstock. Others are 197x160 mm; 7 3/4x6 1/4-inch sheet, mounted to 9 1/2x8 1/4-inch cloth-backed cardstock. Some illustrations have detailed graphite notations to printer and/or small sketches in the margins. Accompanied by preliminary mock-up of cover on onion skin mounted to board and nearly complete printed pages from book.
