In 1967, Betye Saar created Hand Book, in which hand symbols interpreted through her drawings and etchings are combined with the poetry of Beverly Gleaves and David Ossman, with Xerox work by Gail Gehring. Palms and palmistry charts would become common subjects in Saar's print and assemblage artwork.
