Special edition, tall octavo, one of 50 copies printed, this copy with signed frontispiece and signed photographs of actors who appeared in the play, including Otis Skinner (1858-1942) and Augustin Daly; bound in contemporary brown half morocco with marbled boards, raised bands and gilt stamped title on spine, top edge gilt, marbled endpapers, uncut; scattered ink stains and smudges, light offsetting from autographs, inner hinge cracked but otherwise sturdy; rubbed, stain to upper board, some surface loss to marbled pastedown; 9 3/8 x 5 7/8 in.

An iconic work printed for one of the most influential figures in American theater, Augustin Daly. This copy was produced for the 100th performance of The Taming of the Shrew at Daly's Theater in New York City and includes multiple photos of each actor with their signatures inked in the lower margin. Rare at auction in any state; signed copies are even harder to find.
