STEPS FOR AN INTERNATIONAL RENDEZVOUSSigned ASTP CSM Rendezvous Book. The document issued to and used by Astronaut Robert Overmyer during flight training and mission support. The book has eight tabbed sections which include Nominal, Liftoff and Dock/Undock, CMC (Command Module Computer) Failure Liftoff, IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) Failure, and VHF, Optics, Other Failures. Many pages have data pad grids for use during maneuvers or navigational alignments. Some pages are in Russian. Approximately 8x10 inches and over 65 pages with ring bindings. With an 8x10 inch silver print of an ASTP joint training session in Houston using this and other documents. NASA/JSC, 1974

Additional Details

Astronaut Overmyer was part of the Apollo Support Crew during ASTP and used this document during rendezvous work with the Apollo prime and back-up crews. The photograph shows the intense crew training involved with all members reviewing each step they are responsible for to accomplish the rendezvous and docking. Forostenko is shown in the center of the photograph interpreting questions or comments and verifying that the complex procedures are clearly understood by all individuals. Apollo Commander Tom Stafford has autographed the front cover of the Rendezvous Book. Presented to Forostenko by Overmyer after the flight, with a Typed Letter Signed by Forostenko providing additional details.
