First edition, folio, edited by Georg Simler (1480-1536); the first German book on astrolabes; title page printed within ornate architectural woodcut compartment; with numerous contemporary annotations inside both boards and in the text; illustrated with the arms of Georg Simler, woodcut initials and large woodcut diagrams throughout, several with extension slips (some worming, other signs of use); bound in contemporary half German alum-tawed pigskin tooled in blind, brass catches present on front board, lacking clasps); back pastedown is printer's waste from an unidentified German-language text in black letter; Jesuit rubberstamp on title; 10 7/8 x 8 in.
