A Typed Letter Signed by Cernan matted within the frame reads: "This Apollo 17 crew patch, that I have signed on the reverse, 'Flown to the Moon,' was carried to the Lunar surface during the historic flight of Apollo 17, December 7-19, 1972." The letter is boldly signed: "Gene Cernan." An additional Typed Letter Signed by Cernan with identical wording has a color image showing the inscription on the back of the emblem.
