Additional Details

A fine copy of the rare separately-issued French edition of one of the great large-scale maps of the early United States, one generally considered to be a primary guide in the planning of the Lewis and Clark expedition. Based on the first state of Aaron Arrowsmith's map of the same name, Tardieu has re-engraved the entire map adding minor corrections and the inset of Andrew Ellicott's Plan of the City of Washington above the title cartouche.
