TERRENCE CUNEO ROYAL ALBERT BRIDGE. 1959.
40x50 inches. Waterlow & Sons, London
Condition A-: vertical and horizontal folds; minor overpainting in margins.
Completed in 1859, The Royal Albert Bridge was the last and, by most accounts, the greatest engineering feat of the master engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The bridge connects Devon and Cornwall, crossing the Tamar River at Saltash. The total length of the structure is 2200 feet, and the two spans are each 455 feet long. Brunel only got to see his completed creation once before his death in 1859 and, shortly after his passing, his name was inscribed on each of the land archways.
