With "82 Cliff Street" in the imprint; 6 unnumbered pages of advertisements at end; and with the pagination errors (pp. 68-74 misnumbered 78-84). The work originally appeared as a serial in Fraser's Magazine; the Harper edition precedes the London edition by a few months. ABPC records only three copies in original wrappers sold at auction since 1976; the last in these rooms (Swann, Nov. 3, 1987). Van Duzer 88.
