THEODORE ROUSSEL
The Sign of the White Horse, Parson's Green.

Etching, 1906. 122x85 mm; 4 3/4x3 3/8 inches. Seventh state (of 7). Edition of approximately 30 in this state (from a total edition of approximately 60 in all 7 states). Signed and inscribed "imp" in pencil on the tab lower right. A superb, richly-inked impression with warm plate tone.

Like Whistler, Roussel concerned himself with the design of his own frames. The London art dealers Thomas Agnew & Sons commissioned 4 new etched frame designs, based on motifs used in frames by Roussel, for an exhibition of etchings by Roussel in January 1991.
