THOMAS HART BENTON
Discussion.

Lithograph, 1969. 250x305 mm; 9 7/8x12 inches, full margins. Edition of 250. Signed in pencil, lower right. Published by Associated American Artists, New York. A superb impression of this scarce lithograph.

Based on an earlier drawing by the artist sketched during the famous "sit down" strikes in Detroit during the summer of 1937; "a discussion between a union recruiter and a negro worker, the union boss sits in the background looking on," (Fath, p. 184).

Despite the edition of 250 called for by Fath, we have found fewer than 10 other impressions at auction in the past 25 years, indicating that the proposed edition of 250 might never have been completed. Fath 82.
