A hunter himself, Tom Hall drew from his own sporting and nature experiences in Canada to create this and other posters depicting animals such as a black bear, moose, deer and geese. "When looking at the game posters he created for Canadian Pacific, it almost seems as if he depicted the animals from the perspective of a hunter, who is just about to pull the trigger of his gun" (Canadian Pacific p. 230). Differing in its perspective, this poster illustrates the plentiful bounty of two successful moose and fowl hunters, canoeing back to shore, rather than the live animals in their habitat. Specifically promoting the Fall hunting season, the artist utilized a vivid color palette of yellow, orange and fuchsia to visually enhance the appeal of traveling to Canada during this time of year. Hall, born in Yorkshire, studied at the New York Art Students League before moving to Canada in 1907. Not in Canadian Pacific.
