TOYONOSUKE KUROZUMI (1908-1955)

[OSAKA RAILWAYS]. Circa 1935.

42x30¼ inches, 106¾x76¾ cm.
Condition A-: minor repaired tears, creases and abrasions at edges; minor creases in image; slight bleaching in text. Framed.

Kurozumi worked for the Osaka National Railways in the 1930s. Using flat colors and cut-out images of locomotives, Kurozumi uses a simple technique to create an exceptional image. The text advertises the increase in fast trains between Osaka and Yamada. "Kurozumi resigned from the railway after the war and opened a photo shop in Kobe" (Fraser p. 63).
