Additional Details

Second edition of a work first published the year before. Hodges (1744-97) was a painter who served as an artist on Cook's second voyage and later travelled to India under the patronage of Warren Hastings. "His narrative . . . concentrates on the architecture of the country, which was Hodges' primary interest, with a few observations on Hindu customs and ceremonies"--Howgego I, H90.
