Additional Details

"You'll be wandering down this way, & we will paddle around the lake on a steamer & have a smoke & a holiday; but I'm not a wanderer, & must stick to my desk & fulfill my contracts, otherwise I would go & hunt up Montana & have a try at your tobacco.
"We've got a little coop of a house on the hillside, & when the family are all in it (we are 7) it is packed as snugly as a cigar-box; but it's our shanty, & we like it. The meals are served in it from the inn down at the foot of the garden, & we consider ourselves rather luckily situated for sinners.
"I loafed yesterday--being lazy--but I will get to work now."
Twain and his family spent the 1897 summer in Switzerland, during which he began his Mysterious Stranger (unfinished) and More Tramps Abroad, published in 1898.
