Additional Details

a note to an angel-fish on old age, quoting from pudd'nhead wilson. Butes was the first of Twain's "Angel-Fish," a nickname given by Twain to a group of young girls whom he befriended as surrogate grandchildren in his old age and with whom he formed "the Aquarium Club." While many letters passed to and from his "Angel-Fish" from 1906-10, few appear at auction.
