Taylor-Burroughs, Margaret (1917-2010) Zimbabwe Landscape I.
Lithograph on heavy cream wove paper, full margins; signed, titled, dated and numbered 4/5 in pencil, lower margin; a good, dark impression of this scarce print, 10 1/4 x 17 1/8 in.
Taylor-Burroughs and her husband Charles started the Ebony Museum of Negro History and Art [now the DuSable Museum of African American History] in their living room on the south side of Chicago in 1961. In addition to her career in art, Taylor-Burroughs also taught at DuSable High School, and at the Kennedy-King Community College. Through her work, she sought to speak, "not only for my people, but for all humanity."
