Additional Details

Capt. Conrad's (USN, Ret.) passion for flying continued well beyond his career as an astronaut. This was Conrad's fifth log book used during September 1984 to April 1997 with almost 1,000 hours logged in this book alone.
During this period Conrad held a commercial pilot and airline transport pilot certificates with ratings of single engine - land, multiengine - land, instrument, and helicopter. The helicopters flown include the Hughes 500 series (around 500 hours). Aircraft include Baron B-55 and 58, Cessna Crusader, Cessna Citation, King Air C-90, Stearman C-3R, Piper Cub J-3, Piper Cheyenne, and a DC-2 (over 440 hours in these kind of aircraft). There is a military aircraft log page that lists flights in Astronaut Bill Ander's P-51 Mustang, The Blue Angels FA-18/B fighter, a B-17G bomber, and the Mirage III fighter from the Swiss Air Force. The logbook provides a blank line for the pilot's signature to certify the page entries. Conrad has signed this log book 46 times. There are over 1400 separate flights logged with an average of 10 individual hand entries per flight by Conrad. The log book contains approximately 100 pages of flight entries.
