Large 4to, copy belonging to master bookbinder charles meunier with his beautiful decorative binding of brown morocco with faux bands, gilt lettering, and front cover with color calf designs of flowers, feather, and pen nib, surrounding an image of this volume open to the title-page, turn-ins of floral sprays alternating with open book design; original color pictorial wrappers by Louis Rhead bound in; Autograph Postcard Signed by Uzanne, with his printed monogram, tipped to front blank (Cairo, 23 February, 1895 to unknown recipient); bookplate of M. Additional Details

one of only sixty copies on japan; this copy dedicated to binder charles meunier. It later became the property of great textile printing magnate, society member, and master yachtsman, M. C. D. Borden, with his nautical-themed bookplate. Borden owned The American Printing Company in Fall River, Massachusetts, the largest cloth-printing company in the world, earning him the nickname "the Calico King." A beautiful production which is very scarce in this Japan edition.
