In the summer of 1975, the current owner of this drawing drove Vaclav Vytlacil to Martha's Vineyard where the artist and his wife owned a home. As a gesture of gratitude, Vytlacil asked his driving companion to select a drawing from a group of works the following day. This pastel was chosen specifically because the recipient had enjoyed a dinner at Menemsha the evening prior.
