The Danish town of Elsinore is most famous for its landmark Kronburg Castle which was the setting for Shakespeare's Hamlet. Capitalizing on their claim to fame, the town staged Shakespeare plays in the castle to celebrate its 500th anniversary. Andersen was one of the most prolific Danish poster designers between the wars who was well-known as an illustrator for both newspapers and books.
