The first, to the NY State Legislature, a petition of the Mayor Aldermen and Commonalty of NY, appealing for help with meeting the rising cost of maintaining the city's alms house, enclosing a report [see second document]. Countersigned by Robert Benson. 1 1/4 pages, tall 4to, with integral blank; minor bleed-through affecting first lines of text, small holes at intersections, short closed separations at folds. The second, partly-printed, estimating the costs and condition of the alms house. 1 page, folio; backed, minor scattered chipping at edges, toning at folds and along right edge.
