An exceptional and little known trade journal ("The Voice of Letterpress Printing and Photo-Engraving") dedicated to increasing the efficiency, visibility, legibility, impact and aesthetic appeal of printed advertising as well as promoting the highest printing and reproduction standards available. This is achieved through dramatic examples of new ideas in graphic design. Although largely by unnamed and unknown artists, much of the visual content reflects familiarity with European avante-garde movements and sophisticated design, such as later information delivery work by Ladislav Sutnar. Subjects addressed include layout, illustration, photoengraving, caricature, color, visual charts and image size. Hyper-illustrated, the magazine is a visual treat and a powerful example of American dynamism through design.
