VARIOUS DESIGNERS POSTER ALBUM / THE AULT & WIBORG CO. 1902. Bound volume.
12 1/4x9 1/4 inches, 31x23 cm. The Ault & Wilborg Ink Co., Cincinnati.
Condition A.
An exceptional compendium of advertisements (in fact small posters) produced by the Ault & Wiborg Ink company. The book contains 59 letter-press plates by various designers. All appeared as ads in various publications of the time, most notably those by Will Bradley which appeared in the Inland Printer. Printed according to the highest production quality and using the finest inks the company had to offer, this album served the dual purpose of being a salesman's sample book and a sought-after, must-have volume for turn-of-the-century American poster collectors. The book reprints advertisements the company produced from the years 1895-1902. According to the introduction, "Having exhausted our entire stock of unbound Posters through responding to demands for same, we concluded some time ago to reissue, in pamphlet form, practically all heretofore shown by us, and this Album is the result." Among the exceptionally designed and colorful images are twenty designed by Will Bradley, and one by Louis Rhead. There are also excellent works by Crittenden, Carolyn Huntington, Binner and many others.
