VEEDOL MOTOR OIL. 1936.
421/2x311/2 inches.
Condition B+: repaired tears and restoration in margins; abrasions, overpainting and restoration in image.
An exceptional poster-portrait of the two most famous German Zeppelins; the Hindenburg and the Graf Zeppelin, detailed down to their call numbers and pictured here to advertise motor oil. The two airships pioneered transatlantic flight, which is why they are shown flying above the ocean in tandem (that the blue is water, not sky, is reinforced by the image of the ship below). Curiously, the Graf Zeppelin actually entered service in 1928 (not 1930 as stated on the poster) and both airships are pictured here without swastikas emblazoned on their tail-fins!
