Small thin 8vo, original colored wrappers by Verneuil; cloth-backed board folder with one silk tie remaining, scattered light foxing; ink gift inscription on folder and pencil entries on the date pages indicate that the copy was given by a Léonce Gain to his wife, Marie, on the birth of their son Pierre on September 6 of that year. scarce calenda by the art nouveau master. Verneuil was a student of Grasset and was inspired by Japanese art and natural elements to create rich, emblematic Art Nouveau ornaments. He created numerous designs for posters, furniture, enamel, ceramics, textiles, embroidery, among other objects. His masterly work for this calendar reflects his particular talent as a colorist and great attention to detail.
