Additional Details

"After the publication of the [1555] second edition of the Fabrica, the whereabouts of the wood blocks were unknown until Andreas Maschenbauer, an Augsburg printer and publisher, used 19 of them in the present work. The book was intended for painters or engravers and Maschenbauer attributed the illustrations to Titian rather than van Calcar and selected only those that pertained to the body's surface anatomy"--Heirs of Hippocrates 288 (1706 edition).
