first edition of the first work on vesalian anatomy published in england, an unauthorized abridgment of Vesalius's Epitome with illustrations copied from the Epitome and Fabrica by Thomas Geminus (d. 1562), a Belgian emigré engraver and printer. This has generally been regarded as the first plagiarism of Vesalius, although Geminus acknowledged him in the text. It was the second English book with engraved illustrations (after the 1540 Byrth of Mankynde, also with plates by Geminus) and the first with an engraved title page.
