Additional Details

In 1906 Mary Delvard and Mark Henry opened the Nachtlicht cabaret in Vienna. The following year the cabaret moved to a new location and adopted the name Fledermaus. The entire production was designed by Secession artists and realized by the Wiener Werkstätte, becoming a showcase of their style and craftsmanship. The architecture and interiors were designed by Josef Hoffmann, and the bar was decorated by Berthold Löffler, who also designed posters for the theater. All of the show programs were designed by members of the group. This was their second program. It was laid out by Otto Czeschka, who joined the Werkstätte in 1906 and introduced decorative elements into their repertoire of design concepts. The work is a masterpiece of printing and design and is exceedingly scarce in any condition. Wiener Grafik, pages 310-312.
