VIKTOR RUTZ (1913-2008) PELZ KUHN / ELEGANTE PELZMÄNTEL. Circa 1933.
50x35 inches, 127x89 cm.
Condition A. Matted and framed.
Rutz studied in Zurich and began his career as a fashion illustrator. Through the mid-1940s he designed over two hundred posters; thereafter he focused almost entirely on painting. For this furrier he presents a sharply elegant woman, awash in makeup and completely engulfed in luxurious fur. Like furry neon, Rutz places the title of the poster on either side of the woman's head, a startling extension of the coat itself, mirroring the curve of her head and the rouge on her face.
