Additional Details

bound with: SCHENK, PETER. Theatrum Bellicum Incipiens a Carolo II. 12 double-page engraved mapsheets, printed in sanguine. Last leaf backed. (Incomplete.)

In all likelihood this is the second volume of a semi-standardized two-volume Visscher composite atlas. Thus this lot is lacking the first volume with the world and celestial map, and with some European material, but it includes the volume with the foreign maps at the conclusion. In addition to its impressive complement of European maps, this example includes 6 Asian maps, 4 of the Middle East, 5 of Africa (one of which defective), 7 of the Americas, and the Utopia map.
