Air India began operating its first Boeing 747 Jumbo Jet (Emperor Ashoka) in 1971. Heralding the dawn of that new era for the airline, this poster tips its hat to the Disney film Dumbo; it shows a reclining Maharaja having his needs opulently met, while flying amidst the elaborate finery of an airborne pachyderm. Even the typography of the word "Jumbo" is reminiscent of the lettering used for the title in the Disney posters for the film. IPA 1973, p. 89
