Six volumes, octavo, including issues for the years 1858, 1862, 1863, 1864, 1865, and 1866, extensively illustrated with engraved folding maps, color and black and white plates depicting various views, figures, and diagrams; some plates with stains and closed tears, toned at edges but generally clean; original publisher's cloth stamped in blind and gilt; one rebacked with red morocco, all others with chipping at spine ends, hinges tender, text blocks cracked in one or two, bumped at extremities; each approx. 7 ¼ x 4 ½ in.
This group of volumes detail various aspects of historical and contemporary documentation for the City of New York, and include accounts of the Alderman Council meeting, city ordinances, lists of public officials and their changes in office, directories for public and private institutions, transportation schedules, demographic and census records, among many other documents recording New York history.
