Limited edition, quarto; number 211 of 300 numbered copies printed on vélin pur fil Lafuma-Navarre from a total run of 335; text in French; illustrated with a frontispiece and 11 engravings by Laboureur; bound in full light brown morocco by Charles Benoit, front board onlaid with white and green morocco, stamped with silver and gilt, spine gilt-lettered, gilt-ruled dentelles over marbled endleaves, top edge gilt; with the original printed wrappers bound in (minor offsetting from a few plates; spine gently sunned); housed in a custom chemise and slipcase; 9 1/4 x 7 3/8 in.

Valmy-Baysse was a French novelist, poet, and essayist who contributed to various humanist magazines during the early 20th-century. Quite a few of his publications were rebound by Charles Benoit whose fine bindings embody the style of the period.
