Vogel was a Parisian publisher and designer who entered the print industry in 1906. Specializing in fashion magazines, he and his wife, Cosette de Brunhoff, launched the Gazette du Bon Ton in 1912. His work on Les Feuillets d'Art came after a stint in Morocco, photographing antiquities in Meknes, Fez, and Marrakech. In this period, around 1919, Vogel became interested in the avant-garde art world and moved from the current publication to L'Illustration des Modes, Le Jardin des Modes, later in his career, he served as the artistic director of Vogue France.
