Berman was an avant garde filmmaker, artist and collagist, whose work was associated with the Beat Movement and the post-war California art scene. In addition to his influential work he also had a minor role in Easy Rider (1969) and appears on the cover of the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. With- A letter from Jonas Mekas confirming that this poster was given to him personally by Berman and comes from Mekas' collection.
