very rare two volume manuscript edition, first volume signed by the author and dated "2/96." Precedes the signed special galleys and represents the only issue of the novel dated 1995. At 1445 pages nearly 400 pages longer than the published version and with the footnotes ending at 470 rather than 388. No other copies found in the trade or traced at auction.
