Additional Details

The drawings represent two steps in the creation of the comic: one a simple rough blocking out character shapes and positions, the other a more ‘tied down' version with all the details needed for final inking.

Quite notably, this is from Gottfredson's final week of Mickey Mouse daily comics, following his October 1975 retirement after 45 years drawing the strip. This is also his final daily comic to feature the title character Mickey Mouse.

Floyd Gottfredson has earned a legendary status of highest esteem among Disney and ‘funny animal' comics fans, as a major force in the development of Mickey Mouse comics– very much akin to Carl Barks' contributions to the Donald Duck comics.
