WALTER BOMAR (1918-1988) AMERICAN AIRLINES / JET POWERED ELECTRA FLAGSHIPS. Circa 1959. 39 1/4x30 1/4 inches, 100x77 cm. Condition B+: restoration in corners; reparied tears at edges. The Electras (Lockheed L-188s) were America's first turboprop airplanes. They could achieve speeds almost a hundred miles an hour faster than the piston-powered aircraft of the early 1950s. By the mid 1970s most of the Electra's had been retired from service. Walter Bomar was a prolific graphic artist, illustrator, poster designer and painter.
