This is an impressively large and complex collage by a New York City artist known for his depiction of urban environments. Early in his career, Walter Cade was included in two important exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, the 1969 Annual Exhibition: Contemporary American Painting and the 1971 Contemporary Black Artists in America. He then had the inaugural show at the Studio Gallery in Jamaica, NY, with a solo exhibition in 1972. Cade continued this window imagery with mixed media, and had three solo exhibitions at Sande Webster Gallery in Philadelphia.
