Additional Details

Written the day after Bunker Hill by the commander of the American forces there. Among the primary causes for the tactical defeat of the American forces was Ward's inability to supply them with adequate ammunition. Here, as his troops regrouped in nearby Cambridge, he pleads for more supplies: 'Gent'n: Yours of this day have just received, desire you would immediately send me the ordnance mentioned in your letter, and provide me with all the ordnance & ordnance stores that can be obtained by man.'
