"I am now well informed of your proceedings, which I entirely approve. I think, if the party of 250 Infantry which you mention, you Once Determined to send with the Detachment of Cavalry, had gone with it, it would have been a good Support to the Cavalry. I suppose them to have been mostly Rifle Men and Volunteers. In case Col Davie spould apply for them, I conclude they will be immediately Detached. Gen Smallwood and Col Morgan March at Daylight the Continnetal Light Horse will follow them. I have desired Mr Pen to inform you concerning the Discharges claimed by this Militia you Mention. I hope Gen Butler has joined you. Be assured I shall forward you every Succor & Support in my power and prepare the moment it is necessary to join you with all the Continental Troops Collected & Collecting here . . ."
