Provenance: original owner Thomas Beall (signature on title); gift inscription to his son-in-law George Corbin Washington (1789-1854), a grand-nephew of the president. Beall built the Beall-Air estate in what is now Halltown, WV, which was inherited by George Corbin Washington along with other Washington artifacts. Under the later ownership of George's son Lewis William Washington, Beall-Air was briefly seized by John Brown's forces in the Harpers Ferry raid. with--Fiske.
