WASHINGTON, GEORGE. Washington's Farewell Address. Letterpress broadside with decorative border, 22 1/4 x 18 inches, printed in silver and gold on heavy coated white stock; cropped with tack holes in margin, a bit of dampstaining in margins. New York: C.C. Wright & Durand, circa 1835

Additional Details

This handsome engraving of Washington's much-beloved address is not on WorldCat, no other copies have been found at auction, and it appears to be unrecorded. It was engraved and printed by the firm of Charles C. Wright and the famed American artist Asher Brown Durand; they mainly produced engravings for bank notes. The only other known production over the "C.C. Wright & Durand" imprint (also using the same 45 Maiden Lane address) was a map of Colorado and Red River Land Company produced in 1835.
