WATCH TARGET. Magician borrows a watch from a spectator. He then seems to shoot the watch from a gun and it lands perfectly at the center of a target held by the magician's assistant. Wooden target painted in white and black; with a suspended watch 6 1/4 inches square (16 cm). Manufactured by caroly, with his embossed metal label on verso. Often performed in tandem with the Mortar and Pestle routine (see lots 60 & 70). France: Caroly, late 19th century.
