Additional Details

The Harlem branch of the New York Public Library became the Division of Negro Literature, History and Prints in 1925, and the following year received the Arturo Schomburg collection. This card was issued a year after Du Bois had left his position as editor of "The Crisis" and become a professor at Atlanta University, but he still used the 226 West 150th Street address at the Laurence Dunbar Apartments where he had lived since 1928. Du Bois rarely signed with his full name as seen here, generally preferring his initials.
