Additional Details

"You will have heard of the sudden death of my Brother. . . . It seems to me I never heard of a death so instantaneous. He fell in an instant, without any effort to save himself, & without any struggle, or sign of consciousness, after he reached the floor.
". . . The funeral was . . . the next day. Mrs. W's constitution is feeble, & I know not how she could get thro' the dreadful scene. . . . My Brother has left two daughters--one 14, & one 12 yrs old; & a wife, a fine woman, to whom he had been married about 4 yrs. . . .
"This event . . . has affected me very much. . . . He has been my reliance, thro' life, & I have derived much of its happiness from his fraternal affection. I am left, the sole survivor of my family. . . . I confess I cannot well describe the effect of this event on my feelings. . . ."
